Ellen joined Design Engine in 2021 after completing a Masters of Architecture (RIBA part II) at the University of Bath.

Analysing the relationship between security and national identity, her dissertation evaluated the impact of the growing threat of international terrorism at the turn of the century on the design of the modern British diplomatic estate. Otherwise, a second semester design project addressed the necessity of industrial re-use in Dundee, establishing a homage to craft with a wool manufacturing plant and visitor experience centre.

Before joining Design Engine, Ellen has worked on large scale projects in London with HOK within their mixed-use, heritage and public sectors. Prior to this, she completed her undergraduate degree at Northumbria University in Newcastle,  where an ethos concerned with contextual and community focused design resulted in a third year project which won and was nominated for multiple awards, including the RIBA Northeast award.
