Design Engine Architects have been successful in a competitive tender for the La Mare de Carteret Schools project.This commission follows Design Engine’s successful completion of Les Beaucamps High School in Guernsey which recently won a 2013 RIBA Regional Award and a RIBA South East Client of the Year Award.
The brief is to build a replacement co-educational Secondary High School for approximately 600 pupils aged 11 to 16 years and a 2-form entry Primary School and Nursery in the Castel parish a coastal site on the Island of Guernsey. New indoor and outdoor sports and community facilities will also be provided on the site.
At this stage, the States of Guernsey have yet to approve full funding for the project, but it is part of the final phase of the “Education Development Plan Programme 1” for the renewal of all the Island’s Secondary High Schools, post-16 and Special Education facilities.
