Roman House, a 1980’s prefabricated office building is completed, having undergone a radical £1m transformation for Gifford Consulting Engineers, who have secured a short-term lease for the site. The building had been poorly extended over the years, but the remodelling solution had to be one which matched the quality working environment of Gifford’s nearby Southampton headquarters (designed by Design Engine in 2003), whilst representing value for money in the context of the relatively short-term nature of the occupation. The result has been met with genuine appreciation by Gifford staff and astonishment by those who new of the building in its former guise.
