Design Engine’s scheme for Arts University Bournemouth’s new Student Accommodation has received planning consent.
The proposed 9,000m2 project will provide 297 bedrooms, 269 of which will be delivered as cluster flats sharing a communal kitchen area, 23 as studio apartments with their own kitchen facilities and 5 as accessible studios. The new scheme will also deliver a series of communal study and social spaces and external courtyards and gardens, together with strategic landscape planting around the perimeter of the campus.
This marks the latest phase of Design Engine’s overall masterplan for the AUB campus which has already seen an investment totalling £17m to deliver a series of refurbished and new buildings, including the RIBA Award-winning Student Services Building and Design Workshops & Studios.
The new Student Accommodation is expected to be complete by Summer 2020.
At AUB, we take great pride in the innovative and head-turning architecture that makes up our campus, and are delighted to be expanding upon our existing specialist resources. We’ve designed our buildings and facilities for our students, whilst also considering local residents and the wider community.Stuart Bartholomew, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Arts University Bournemouth
